Review

I rarely pay much attention to lyrics in general, and even less so to Manowar's usually childish and/or embaressing romanticising of war and battle. On this album Manowar tries to write about Odin and the Norse gods, a subject of which they clearly have little to no understanding. That makes not caring very difficult, since it is a subject that is very important to me. I can only hope that Manowar's fans (yes, they do exist!) don't think that their take on the subject is a truthful depiction of the old Norse culture. I do wish that people like Manowar would stop spreading lies and misconceptions about things they don't understand.

And the music? It's the same bloated Manowar take on metal, this time to a less extent though: there are more orchestral (read: bad synth strings and other such sounds) preludes and interludes than actual songs. And the songs are subpar, littered as they are with irritating spoken lyrics and bombastic metal cliches.

Sometimes bad albums can still be interesting and fun even. This is not one of those albums. Instead I found myself increasingly angry and provoked both by the lousy music and the lyrics. Glory Majesty Unity even made me consider altering my rating system, since the lowest rating of half a star is half a star too many.
